Crackerjack is a feature-length comedy from executive producer Jeff Foxworthy. In the off-beat style of Raising Arizona, the story follows Bo “Crackerjack” Bailey, an artful dodger skilled in avoiding the responsibilities of manhood – usually by immersing himself in his drug of choice: softball.

Crackerjack wrapped principle photography in 2011 and is currently in post-production. It is expected to be released in 2012. Watch this space for more information as production approaches.

When Georgia’s Own Credit Union decided to replace their broadcast commercial with something fresh, they needed a production company with the creative ingenuity to help them develop a concept that would stand out from the crowd and the technical expertise to execute the complicated special effects driven content. All for a budget that made sense in a difficult economic climate.

The result is a seamless blend of live action, stop motion, and greenscreen effects that perfectly positions the credit union’s brand in an engaging, story-driven commercial. Click the image above for a sneak peak.

The 48 Hour Film Showdown is our most recent television production, a competition reality show we developed and produced based on the format of The 48 Hour Film Project. We give teams of independent filmmakers 48 hours to write, shoot and edit short films based on creative guidelines assigned to them.

After struggling to create their masterpieces in the face of creative disagreements, location disasters and warring egos, the films are then screened before a live theatrical audience, which votes to determine which film is worthy of box office gold.

The Line Starts Here was the winner of the 2005 Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker’s competition and was subsequently screened in over 21,000 theaters around the country.

Job Description:
While the rest of the team is working to deliver the best possible creative on schedule and on budget, this person is responsible for ensuring that everything is running smoothly under the hood and no details are overlooked. To fill this hybrid role you must be highly organized, flexible, responsible, and passionate about details. Your responsibilities will consist of a wide variety of specific duties, both in the office and on set, from office organization and communication to scheduling, bookkeeping, and assisting with both business and personal tasks as necessary. In addition, you will directly assist the Director and Producer with tasks related to coordinating the logistics of our film productions.

Job Requirements:
You must be a highly organized, confident, detail-oriented person with experience as an administrative and/or personal assistant. Proficiency with Microsoft Office operating in a Mac environment is important. You must be a skilled communicator in both written and verbal contexts. A solid understanding and experience with finances and bookkeeping, specifically in Quickbooks, is not a requirement but is highly desirable. You should relish the opportunity to create new and efficient processes for the company’s internal communications and workflow.

Experience in film production environments is also not a requirement, but you should be familiar with or eager to learn the logistics of the production process, as you will be expected to execute various pre-production and production tasks delegated to you by the Producer or Director on productions. These may include anything from organizing and scheduling cast auditions to crew hiring and communications or location scouting.

Depending on the stage of production the company is in at any given time, you should expect the hours to vary dramatically, from 14-15 hour days, nights, or weekends when on set to a more traditional office schedule in-between productions.

Personal Attributes:
As previously mentioned, a near pathological attention to organization and detail would do you well in this position. As with any role in our company, a passion for storytelling is also important. You should be efficient, professional, pleasant to work with, accept critique well, and be eager to solve problems.

Summerset is a team-oriented work environment and your ability to get along with and work well with the rest of the team is critical. Honesty and reliability is paramount, as you will be expected to deal with company finances and other items of a strictly confidential nature. Overall, you should expect the work to be challenging and occasionally draining, but also dynamic, exciting, and creatively inspiring compared to any other administrative or personal assistant role you may have worked before.

Application Process:
Start by submitting a resume, references, and also a personal video (private YouTube link or similar is fine) telling us about yourself in a more personal and effective way than your resume can do. You can expect to be interviewed both via phone and then in person as a follow-up. You may be interviewed by multiple team members as well. And you should expect to be given one or more sample tasks to do to show a sample of your work.

Salary based on skill and experience.

To apply, send the information requested above to jobs@summersetproductions.net. If we think you might be a good fit, we will be in touch shortly.

Job Description:
Writing scripts for narrative-style short films for client projects under the creative guidance and direction of the Director and client. Responsible for being the lead point-of-contact creatively for the client. May be full-time or a regularly recurring contract position depending on a number of factors.

Job Requirements:
Experience and skill writing narrative style screenplays is imperative. You must be able to work from broad creative concepts to create stories, establish characters, and write strong dialog, and each of these aspects must work together to create an engaging story, typically somewhere between 7-10 minutes in length. Proficiency with Final Draft is not a requirement but is highly desirable.

You must be willing and able to meet clients at their discretion for creative consultations and feedback. Your work schedule is likely to be extremely flexible to fit your work habits, but you should expect to work regularly alongside the team and must be easily accessible at all times when not working in the office.

Personal Attributes:
You must work well in a team environment, and taking direction from others. A passion for excellence is vital. You should be willing to let others critique your work ruthlessly, and you should be willing to do the same for others, in the spirit of creating the best possible work. You should be able to meet deadlines and be able to motivate yourself to do your best work. You must be honest, fun to be around, and possess a strong work ethic. And you must be passionate about storytelling.

Application Process:
Start by submitting a resume, work samples of previously written stories or screenplays, references, and also a personal video (private YouTube link or similar is fine) telling us about yourself in a more personal and effective way than your resume can do. You can expect to be interviewed first via phone and then in person as a follow-up. You may be interviewed by multiple team members as well. And you should expect at a minimum to write a sample script based on creative direction provided by Summerset as a work sample.

Salary or hourly rate based on skill and experience.

Job Description:
Responsible for managing and overseeing all logistical aspects of Summerset’s projects From client relationships to on-set productions through post-production. This includes responsibility for communication with clients, finding and negotiating deals with cast, crew, and locations, delegating tasks to a production coordinator, shepherding the project through all stages of the production and post-production process, and managing the costs and finances of the project. All of this will be done in consultation and partnership with the Director to serve the creative vision for the project.

Job Requirements:
You must possess an intimate understanding of the standard responsibilities and workflows involved in the filmmaking process and have experience working in that environment, particularly related to narrative filmmaking. This includes an understanding of crew roles and responsibilities, standard production paperwork (including call sheets, contracts, releases, etc.) and the post-production workflow. Experience budgeting for productions is also highly desirable.

Flexibility is crucial. We are a team-oriented company where anyone might be called on to do any role depending on availability and need. You may be working on a project budget one day and helping re-design the post-production workflow the next. Likewise, work hours can be expected to vary dramatically from week to week depending on what stage of the production cycle we are in. 14-15 hour days during production should be expected, as should working nights and weekend when necessary to meet deadlines. But if you’re the right person for the job, the work will also be exciting and creatively inspiring. Only a very small percentage of your time will be spent on typically mind-numbing talking head/b-roll style corporate work. You will be regularly working on narrative, short-film sets with a talented cast and crew gaining experience and skills valuable in narrative film and television work.

Personal Attributes:
You must work well in a team environment, and you must be comfortable leading the team.

Start by submitting a resume, reel, references, and also a personal video (private YouTube link or similar is fine) telling us about yourself in a more personal and effective way than your resume can do. You can expect to be interviewed first via phone and then in person as a follow-up. You may be interviewed by multiple team members as well. And you should expect at a minimum to execute one or more sample tasks provided by Summerset (budgeting a theoretical production for instance) as a work sample.

This job may be full-time or a regularly recurring contract position depending on a number of factors.

Salary based on skill and experience.

Job Description:
Whether in the form of a narrative film, a broadcast commercial, or a web-based brand video, storytelling is the DNA of Summerset. Technical proficiency is always a good thing, but the primary skill a Summerset editor must possess is a strong instinct for story. This position will regularly consist of taking the raw media from our various productions and massaging it into compelling, engaging finished works.

Job Requirements:
You must be proficient in all aspects of the editing environment, from ingesting and organizing media and project files to managing the full post-production workflow, but most of all you must have an excellent instinct for storytelling, as much of the work we do is in the narrative format. This means working from a screenplay and the creative oversight of a Director and Producer to realize the vision for a piece in content, tone, pacing and style.

You must be experienced in the Mac computing environment and Final Cut Pro. You must be comfortable with managing the post-production environment and workflow, from project management to exports and compressions to offline/online workflows. Proficiency with Adobe After Effects and the broader Adobe Creative Suite is not a requirement but is a plus. More broadly, a general proficiency in graphic and visual design is also helpful.

Flexibility is crucial. We are a team-oriented company where anyone might be called on to do any role depending on availability and need. You may be editing one day and working on set logging footage the next. Likewise, work hours can be expected to vary dramatically from week to week depending on what stage of the production cycle we are in. You may be picking up raw footage from a PA at 2am after a shoot to take back to the edit suite, or pulling a Sunday night all-nighter to meet a Monday morning deadline. If you work better from 2-5am than 2-5pm you will typically have the flexibility to set your own schedule. While the hours will vary, this is less of a 9-5 job and more of a “meet your deadlines” job. But if you’re the right person for the job, the work will also be exciting and creatively inspiring. Only a very small percentage of your time will be spent on typically mind-numbing talking head/b-roll style corporate work.

Personal Attributes:
You must work well in a team environment. You will not be the king of your own castle. If you’re the kind of person who will not appreciate being asked to help out the team in an area unrelated to your core job description, or who will take offense to someone else working at “your” edit suite, this isn’t the job for you.

Start by submitting a resume, reel, references, and also a personal video (private YouTube link or similar is fine) telling us about yourself in a more personal and effective way than your resume can do. You can expect to be interviewed first via phone and then in person as a follow-up. You may be interviewed by multiple team members as well. And you should expect at a minimum to edit a short-film style piece (7-10 minutes) from raw footage and creative direction provided by Summerset as a work sample.

Salary based on skill and experience.

To apply, send the information requested above to jobs@summersetproductions.net. If we think you might be a good fit, we will be in touch shortly.
